Playgrounds for Mongolia

    It now gives me much pleasure to advise the container full of playgrounds has now arrived at UlaanBaatar, Mongolia and has been unloaded by members of the Rotary Club of Gerege, Interact Club at School 115 and the Veloo Foundation.

    I thought the following extract of an email from the Rotary Club of Gerege may interest you.

    “For those who may not be familiar with me, I am Namuun, the Immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Gerege in Mongolia.

    As we approach the conclusion of this incredibly rewarding and exciting project, I would like to express my deepest gratitude on behalf of our club and the beneficiaries to our fellow Australian Rotarians. I’m thrilled to report that everything inside the container has arrived in excellent condition, complete with some delightful surprises.

    It was evident that every person involved in this project invested a great deal of time and care into packing the container. From meticulously taping and cataloging items to even including a printed manual for the playground, the dedication and love poured into this endeavor were truly heartwarming.”

    Doripalam Miriam Nira from the Veloo Foundation was equally appreciative and reported:

    “The donation of playgrounds and items will be allocated and impact 4 different programs and locations;

    1. Veloo Foundation, Children of the Peak project in Songinokhairkhan district – Kindergarten and Library children – over 700 children will directly be impacted. (East side of the Garbage Dump) – Playground I -Michael Reserve + Playground M – Edinburgh Reserve.

    2. Veloo Foundation, Children of the Peak, 2nd kindergarten where over 300 children will be directly impacted on the west side of the Garbage Dump – Playground B – Long Island Reserve

    3. Veloo Foundation Soaring Crane Summer Camp in Erdene soum where nearly 500 children are impacted every year (Playground Y – Croydon Ave Reserve + Playground F – Cnr Burnbank Way & Wellow Cres)

    4. One of Veloo Foundation’s target areas in the countryside in relation to the fundraising horse treks being organized in the location – Erdenekhairkhan soum, Zavkhan province (kindergarten with over 300 children) – Taylor Street Reserve-Playground H”

    The children who live on the Garbage Dump will be forever grateful for the donation of playgrounds and shipping  by councils and the volunteer work of Rotarians. Thank you all very much.

    I have attached some photos of the unloading and will be in touch again when the playgrounds have been re-installed.
